The play by play of installing trusses! Ok, so I’m way behind in the story of framing. It’s coming but honestly it was boring and a slow process. But until then, here’s a photo collage of truss day!
This was another one of those things that makes me think I need to do some karma cleanse, I dunno. The first set of trusses arrived last Monday and the second I looked at the interior pitch I knew it was too low. It was a 5/12 pitch, supposed to be 7/12. Sounds tiny? Yeah, no. That was the equivalent to an 18″ drop of our main ceiling. The one that is destined to have beautiful beams and tongue and groove wood. My heart sank, I had a hissy fit, and cried. Hubs knew this was a big deal, so phone calls were made. It ended up the truss company said the computer model failed the way the plan was written, and instead of calling, they just made the change.
We were lucky it was not our fault (read: I didn’t change my mind on it) and so a new order of trusses was rushed and arrived days later. I feel like a stooge still, but I know what I want. The only other thing the truss company changed and didn’t tell us was our upstairs bonus room could not have the hallway it called for upon entry from the stairs. But that little screw up was actually a happy ending because it leaves *just enough* space to put in a a small closet and bathroom! *Happy dance!*
The crew did awesome and the wind was kind to us for the most part. It’s making up for it today, where they are trying to lay down the roof sheathing. Got to love those prairie winds!
